Croatia Tennis Week & Historic Pula, 4* Hotel Sol Aurora

1st – 8th September 2019

In this addition of our hosted week in Croatia we are trying something different. Our all inclusive package includes 6 nights at the 4* Sol Aurora and then 1 night in historic Pula. Pula is a popular destination in Croatia due to it’s beautiful historic town centre and attractive location. In various stages in history the town has been in control of the Romans, Ostragoths, Venetians and Allied forces in WWII. Various Romain ruins are still visible in Pula including a magnificent amphitheatre.

What is a hosted week?

Your Host, Kevin Wentworth

As an experienced tour operator with many years of arranging specialist tennis holidays, we are pleased to be organising a number of Hosted Tennis Weeks as an integral part of our extensive tennis programme. These Hosted Weeks and Weekends are accompanied by a member of our own staff, a proficient tennis player, who acts as a guide and representative throughout the trip, helping organise communal evening meals and tennis mix-ins. These tennis holidays appeal particularly to single travellers, but we welcome couples or groups of friends.

Many of our special weeks and weekends, exclusive to our clients, are based at the Umag Tennis Academy in Croatia.

Tennis at the Umag Academy

We think Croatia is a perfect destination to enjoy a week improving your tennis. The academy is a state-of-the-art tennis centre and has been chosen as the LTA’s official overseas training base. All the coaches that are employed by the Umag Academy are fully qualified and licensed tennis coaches.

Your coaching for this tennis week will be played on the superb clay courts. Coaching is suitable for all age groups and levels of ability. We are sure you will enjoy the convenience of having your hotel 600m from the tennis courts.

Our optional excursion on Thursday is a chance to try delicious Istrian specialities including wines and homemade brandies. This is a half day which costs 60 Euros per person.

Our tour through Istria will begin at Agro – Laguna’s vineyards. Surrounded by fantastic views this will be our venure for some wine tasting. Next we will visit the Agro Laguna factory in Porec. There are more award winning wines to taste, along with olive oils and a selection of cheese.

Once we’re done in Porec, we will head to the Stncija Spin Farm where we will learn how they make their cheese. Then it will be time to enjoy a lunch paired with local wines. Once lunch is done we will head to Istria’s aromatic truffle capital, the small village of Limade. Here we will sample the local truffles.

Our final destination is Buzat. This will be an opportunity to visit the well known Aura brandy house, the place to sample special brandies and shop for homemade jams.

A message from the tennis host: Kevin Wentworth

Your Host, Kevin Wentworth

Having had the privilege of visiting many tennis holiday destinations across the world, this is without doubt one of the finest venues to play tennis. There are a staggering 350 tennis courts in the Istria region, so yes, tennis is most definitely the no 1 sport in Umag.

Umag itself is a stunning resort with beautiful walking, cycling and jogging paths amongst lush green gardens adjoining the pristine waters of the Adriatic Sea. The many cafes, restaurants and bars create a vibrant atmosphere in Umag. I know this will add to your enjoyment of the area.

Our tennis programme is filled with technical and tactical advice. Although there is real work carried out in improving your tennis, we still have lots of fun. We understand that this is a holiday! During the week I am sure you will make lots of new friends and experience Istrian hospitality.

Our tennis programme will include coaching sessions to understand

  • Footwork
  • Forehand & Backhand
  • Slice & Top spin
  • Volley & Smash
  • 1st & 2nd Serves
  • The new “Zonal Tactical Tennis Strategy” system to better help you understand shot selection and tactical play

I look forward to personally welcoming you in Croatia and helping you to have a fantastic tennis holiday!!
